Summary:

The School District of Borough of Morrisville is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Staff Nurse position. The primary goal of the Staff Nurse is to maintain and improve the health status of the students providing them the opportunity to benefit from their educational experiences. The Staff Nurse works under the direction of the Certified School Nurse (CSN) in implementing the school health program

Qualifications:

1. Graduate of an approved nursing program.
2. Valid State of PA Licensed as a Registered Nurse.
3. Certification in CPR and First Aid required.
4. Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in registered nursing, pediatrics, school nursing, public health, medical-surgical, hospital, critical care, or mental health with two (2) years of related management or supervisory experience preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Performs and assist in mandated screenings.
2. Provides first aid for illness or injury to students.
3. Review and monitor student’s immunization status.
4. Assist in maintaining comprehensive health records on each child.
5. Utilize assessment data and resources to deliver appropriate care.
6. Administer medication and perform procedures according to physician’s orders.
7. Inform teachers of health conditions of pupils which may affect behavior or academic performance.
8. Identify at risk students and refer to needed services and to appropriate agencies especially students presenting signs of child abuse.
9. Initiate Emergency Medical Services (911) when presented with any cases requiring more intensive medical treatment.
10. Accompany students on field trips.
11. Perform other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate under the direction of the Supervisor of Special Education.

Clearances and other requirements:

Background employment clearances and the following additional paperwok must be completed within the last year to be valid: Arrest/Conviction Report (Act 24), PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure (Act 168), and School Health Record which includes physical (within a year) and TB test (within 3 months).

Salary:

Per Agreement between Morrisville Board of School Directors and Morrisville Educational Support Personnel Association.
